SCARBOROUGH — The Scarborough School Department has received an offer of
support from a longtime community member.
Louis Fineberg has made a $100,000 donation to the newly
organized Scarborough Education Foundation. The donation will establish the
Louis and Tina Fineberg Trust, created by Fineberg in memory of his late wife
Tina. Mr. and Mrs. Fineberg were married for 70 years and have been longtime
Scarborough residents. The trust will provide for $10,000 allocations to the
foundation each year for the next 10 years. The trust will also ensure that the
nutritional program targeted to support students in need will continue to be
funded.
Fineberg said he was intrigued by the school district’s innovative
healthy food programs that recognize the important role that good nutrition
plays in learning.
“I hope that this donation will encourage others to step up
and contribute,” he said.
