Scarborough man arrested for gas station robbery

SOUTH PORTLAND — A Scarborough man who police say robbed a South Portland gas station Friday night was arrested Monday following a brief standoff.
Joshua Nisbet, 34, was found at 191 Highland Ave. at around 6 p.m. Monday after an arrest warrant was issued in his name for the robbery of the Mobil station at 697 Main St. After the resident of the apartment exited the building, Nisbet refused to come out, police said. After a brief standoff, a tactical team was deployed and Nisbet turned himself in.
He is being held at Cumberland County Jail on $100,000 cash bail.
On Friday night, police say Nisbet used a knife to rob the Mobil station of a small amount of cash.
A Mobil station on Main Street in South Portland was robbed Friday night by a knife-wielding robber.
The robber, described as a 6-foot-tall white male with a muscular build and brown hair, was wearing a bright orange shirt, a gray hat and ski mask and tan pants. The pants had either dirt or grease on both knees, so police suspect he may have been working in construction or as a mechanic. He also had a tattoo on his neck, appearing to consist of four letters, but the exact letters could not be surmised.
The suspect got away with a small amount of cash from the station, which is located at 697 Main St., police said.
